In May 2015 we move into our beautiful Home on Rome. Beauty, of course, is in the eye of the beholder. It may look like a huge project in need of countless hours and dollars, but to us it is an exciting opportunity! It is our first home together and a real chance to finally plant some roots in the city that I love!
The Home on Rome is on a large 5 acre lot inside the city limits of Bowdon,Ga. The House is a two story farm-style home with a large porch and white siding. Mr. Moore (previous owner) was an avid gardener and the yard, although unkempt, shows many signs of his handy work! There are several large oak trees that are begging for a tire swing or two and countless flower beds filled with heirloom plants. Mr. Moore’s shed sits in the side yard. It is a large workspace with an attached greenhouse. We jokingly call our yard, “the perfect Easter yard.” You could hunt eggs for days out there! There is a nice deck off the sunroom that leads to the perfect fire pit location! I can see many nights out there surrounded by friends and family!
Inside the house there are 3 bedrooms and an office. There are 3 full bathrooms and a large open concept living area. Because the sunroom is directly attached to both the kitchen and the living room, we have decided to use it as a dining room! There is a large and in charge laundry/ mud room with access from the garage. There are so many rooms and so many opportunities to get creative. We are so excited to get started!
There was an older couple who lived here before us and they were deeply loved by everyone in the community. When we tell others where we are living they typically respond with, “The Moore House?” I constantly hear stories about how lovely they both were. Two days ago, I ran into a sweet woman who was part of The “West Bowdon Homemaker Club” with Mrs. Moore. She told me that Mrs. Moore knew exactly how to make you feel like the most important person in the world. I feel so honored to live here! Mr. and Mrs. Moore lived here for the majority of their lives and they raised their family inside these walls. I feel a great responsibility to honor their memory by making this home as beautiful as they were!
Be a blessing today!
